Beyoncé said it best when she sang, “Who run the world? Girls.”
Women increasingly inhabit top-ranking roles in traditionally male dominated industries, lead the international mission for girls’ education and advance the conversations on topics like wage/ position equality. A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape and a beautiful woman is the one who uses her lips to speak truth, her voice for kindness, her heart for love, her ears for compassion, and her hands for charity. Ghanaian scholar Dr. James Emmanuel Kwegyir-Aggrey was/is right when he said “if you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a family (nation)”. So it applies to holding positions in and out of school to bring about gender equality.
But I am very disappointed that there are no secrets any more, that modesty and subtlety seem to be a thing of the past. These days’ lots of ladies prefer lies to the truth, they just want their needs to be met and don’t care about anything. Some don’t mind the outcome as far as their needs are met. Some ladies are Die hard fun and will go any length to get what they want without taking into account whether such actions could ruin their lives for good or not. I’m sure many young women who work in the sex industry to fund their studies and take care of their self’s take the view that “it’s my body, I can do what I want”.
But it saddens my heart that there is no mystery around sex any more. It is shocking that young women seem expected, and all too willing, to expose their bodies at the drop of a hat in a bid to be famous, get jobs their heart desires and also battle themselves into occupying certain positions in school and even outside campus.
Also, in an age where technology becomes smarter each week, anyone with this on their student records/testimonial reports will be haunted, way after they have qualified as a lawyer, teacher, doctor, accountant or anything else by the fact that ghosts from their inerasable past can re-emerge at any time. The fact is, you don’t need to turn to prostitutes to survive or certainly hold a position if you are a student. Students are not compulsorily supposed to be rich, don’t forget that.
There has been rumors on campuses pertaining to the fact that most of the female students specifically female aspirants have to go through a lot like being sexually abused and harassed by some individuals who claimed they can help them or rig elections in their favor and just as the says goes “Use what you have to get what you want” and because some ladies are desperate to get their needs met, they turn to give out and do whatever they may be asked to do but the truth of the matter is that I’m sorry to say something has gone wrong with this generations moral compass. Of course it could happen that they can help you win the elections because of bribery, corruption and electoral malpractices/dishonesty but the question is where is your self-respect as a lady?
Moreover, I don’t think you have thought of the consequences that comes with it like acquiring sexually transmitted disease (STD) like gonorrhea, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B etc. which could lead to death and “infertility” when you have everything you’have ever desired in this world including your admirable husband but no child. You can also get unwanted pregnant and drop out from school or it will make life difficult for you. Just think about it because there is more and better life after school and as the Bible says “Who can find a Virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies”. Can you be called a virtuous woman? Where are your moral principles? The choices we make today determines who we become tomorrow so my dear sisters think wisely because is only God that can fulfil your destiny not man. Note also that Fear should not be the option but be strong and believe in yourself to acquire some position when the chance comes because I believe that women are compassionate and have great potentials to lead but be careful.
Hillary Clinton said Always aim high, work hard, and care deeply about what you believe in. And, when you stumble, keep faith. And, when you’re knocked down, get right back up and never listen to anyone who says you can’t or shouldn’t’t go on.”
Remember also that there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your vision, passion and the love you desire to serve… but if you just focus on your dreams and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get there … you’ll be proud of yourself and know that it was you and the people who love and believed in you that put you there.”
Wish you the strength to face the challenges of life with confidence and the wisdom to choose your battles carefully.
